Mark T. Hensley

Woodworking Craftsman &Tradesman since 1985

Instructor Information

Mark T. Hensley, a professional woodworker since 1985, learned the value of the Leigh dovetail system through furniture design and construction. For over a decade, he hasOud ad in Fine Woodworking magazine demonstrated his mastery at hundreds of woodworking shows across the United States.

With persuasion from Highland Hardware, in 1995 Mark began instructing on the Leigh Dovetail Jig at Highland Hardware, Woodcraft stores and woodworking schools, including Marc Adams School of Woodworking.

In spring of 2001, Mark opened his shop in San Antonio Florida, for woodworking classes. Mark has hosted Leigh Dovetail classes from his shop and finds the atmosphere of his hands-on woodworking shop beneficial in learning various processes and machines.

In September of 2001, Mark officially opened Marks Tool School in his shop. He has created classes that focus on learning machine set-up, basic skills, advanced proficiency and proper selection and use of other tools that you will use with your machines. While making a project is rewarding, Mark's primary goal throughout his instruction is to get you comfortable with your tools, so you'll use them once you return home.

Factory trained on the Legacy Ornamental Milling Machine in 2000, Mark recently began teaching classes on this tool with the support of the manufacturer, who has designated Mark’s Tool School as their East Coast Training Center. These hands-on classes are being well received by many Legacy owners and would-be owners.

In January 2003, Mark became factory trained on HVLP sprayers, and added finishing classes to his workshop curriculum.

Spring 2005 update

Last year's customized class format was received very well by your fellow woodworkers. Also, in 2004 we spent the summer in Colorado, so we fortunately missed all those hurricanes which blew through Florida. This year, we'll be spending the summer here at home.

We are finding that most of you want to schedule your class time around your family trips to Florida, and we had much more interest in private classes than our scheduled class times. Okay, we understand. So for 2005, we've opened the shop times, and you can pick a time that works best for you.

If you are considering starting (or finishing) a project, and would like to find out if the shop and I are available when you'll be in the area, please drop an email or call me. We'll discuss your goals and check availability. Then you can decide.
